Lei (Nico) Zheng
Hi! This is Lei (Nico) Zheng (in Chinese: 郑蕾).
I am an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at UMass Boston. I received my Ph.D. in Data Science at Stevens Institute of Technology. I conducted my thesis research under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey V. Nickerson and Dr. Feng Mai.
My research interests lie primarily in two areas: 1) online knowledge collaboration; 2) the use of machines (i.e., bots) and their impacts on platform governance. I use machine learning, econometrics, NLP, and GNN in my research. My works are currently in different stages of top-tier journals, such as Management Science [reject and resubmit], and MIS Quarterly [to be submitted]. My previous works have appeared in the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), the Proceedings of the ACM Human-Computer Interaction (CSCW) [Best Paper Honorable Mention Award], International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), and the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS).
Prior to my Ph.D., I worked as a data scientist in the industry, specializing in analytics, machine learning, and NLP. I also hold a master's degree in Business Intelligence & Analytics from Stevens (NJ, USA) and a dual bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (Sichuan, China). I attended the ICIS Doctoral Consortium (2021) and CSST Doctoral Consortium (2021).
